Cell sorting and analysis
This is a multi-site facility comprising of expert-led high speed cell sorters and self-use sorter/analyser equipment in support of research by SCI member groups.
About flow cytometry
Flow Cytometry is a powerful technique that allows users to analyse individual cells using multiple parameters simultaneously. A cell sorter can be used to separate out populations of cells according to those parameters.
Flow cytometry allows individual particles to be analysed and information about those particles to be gathered. It is a powerful technique as it gives quantitative information about cell populations, which can be separated using a high-speed cell sorter. The application of flow cytometry is evolving with the advancement of technologies behind fluorophores and lasers.
