Stem Cells: Why all the fuss?
Why are people so worked up about cloning? I should know. A decade ago, while I was at the University of California in San Francisco, I devoted two years of my research to cloning human embryos, with the hope of generating stem cells.
My goal was to use human embryo cloning to match the patient’s identity, thereby overcoming immune rejection, a major obstacle to stem cell-based therapies.
