More about the stem cell beer project

PhD students Tim Lohoff (Reik Lab) and Daniel Bode (Kent Lab) have partnered with Moonshine Brewery to create a new beer for Cambridge Beer Festival.

The Festival ran from the 22 - 27 May and featured their stem cell brew 'Regenerator'. The Institute also ran a lunchtime session at the festival to discuss with beer-lovers advances in stem cell research.

Following this pilot, Moonshine Brewery plan to feature the beer in a number of pubs in the Cambridge area, with the opportunity to host accompanying stem cell-themed evenings such as pub quizzes and cafe scientifique events to engage new audiences with the research of the Institute.

Funded by a Public Engagement Seed Fund grant from the Stem Cell Institute

The Cambridge Stem Cell Institute is a world-leading centre for stem cell research.

Our mission: to transform human health through a deep understanding of stem cell biology.
