A novel mouse model identifies mutations and therapeutic targets critical for CML progression.

The Huntly lab have generated a novel mouse model that closely mimics the natural progression of human chronic myeloid leukemia to an aggressive acute myeloid leukaemia (known as blast crisis). Key candidate genes and pathways that, in combination with BCR-ABL, corrupt the haematopoietic stem and progenitor cell compartments, ultimately leading to blast crisis were identified. Read more about it in the Journal of Experimental Medicine .
