Gates Cambridge Funding

For intellectually outstanding postgraduate students with a capacity for leadership and a commitment to improving the lives of others.

Eligibility - Gates Cambridge considers applications from citizens from outside the United Kingdom who wish to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge. See our eligibility page for details

Deadlines - Application for 2017 entry is now open. There are two Gates Cambridge application deadlines: 12 October 2016 (US citizens resident in the USA) and 7 December 2016 (all other eligible applicants).

Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds awards PhD fellowships to outstanding junior scientists (max. age: 27 years) who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately 3 years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory.

Eligibility - For further details please refer to “Who can apply?”.

Deadlines - 1 February, 1 June, 1 October of each year. Pre-selection takes place about 4 weeks after the respective deadline, and the final selection approximately 5 months after the respective deadline. 

The peer-review-based selection process is highly competitive. Applicants should therefore be outstanding in all three selection criteria. Read more about the selection process and its criteria.

 


AstraZeneca Post Doc Programme

The AstraZeneca Post Doc Programme funds post-doctoral projects originating from internal scientists / clinicians across the research areas and scientific disciplines within AstraZeneca’s Innovative Medicine and Early Development (IMED) Biotech Unit.  These projects address fundamental scientific challenges that underpin drug discovery and development and are for a two-year period. 

Eligibility - AstraZeneca is seeking talented scientists who are interested in pursuing an academic-style Post Doc in a global pharmaceutical setting and contributing to AstraZeneca’s commitment to delivering innovative medicines and developing the next generation of scientists.  We seek motivated, enthusiastic individuals with an excellent track record from a diverse range of scientific disciplines across preclinical to early development including: biochemistry, physiology, cellular and molecular biology, pharmacology, computational biology/chemistry, informatics, medicinal chemistry, biophysics, structural biology, DMPK, safety & toxicology, statistics.

Deadlines - Generally advertised in February of each year. However additional opportunities may become available throughout the year.
