How To Apply

All applicants must submit our departmental application form via our application site. Applications received by email will not be accepted.

Overseas applicants wanting to apply for Cambridge funding to cover their Overseas Fees, must also submit a University of Cambridge application to the Applicant Portal.

Step 1: Download and complete the departmental application form <<available here in October>>

Step 2: Fill out the application submission page on our website <<link available here in October>>, attaching your departmental application form, your CV and your degree transcripts when asked, and press submit.

            *Tip: If you have more than one page to upload, combine them into one PDF (you can only upload one document per box).

Step 3: Contact your two named referees, and ask them to email their reference letters to by the application deadline above, quoting 'Wellcome Trust PhD' in the subject header.

Step 4 (Overseas applicants only): Overseas applicants wanting to apply for any of the Cambridge Scholarships to cover their overseas fees, will also need to complete an application through the University Student Applicant Portal (as well as our departmental application). 

 

Important Notes:

'Home' students do not need to submit an application to the University Applicant Portal at this stage.

- If you are applying for 'Overseas' funding via the Applicant Portal, please note the earlier deadline <<date TBC>>

- Reference letters must be provided by the referee themselves on headed paper and should be signed.

- References submitted by applicants will not be accepted. References submitted after the deadline may not be accepted.

- It is your responsibility to ensure that your references have been received.

- Both the University Applicant Portal and our departmental application process require copies of your references. Therefore you will need to ask your referees to send them to both places.

Interviews

Interviews will be held in Cambridge in late January (dates will be advertised when available, above). Interview candidates will be expected to attend two days.
