Applications are invited for an individual of outstanding ability to take up a unique strategic post supporting both the Wellcome - MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (CSCI) and the University Department of Haematology.

The CSCI is a world-leading institute for stem cell research with the mission to transform human health through a deep understanding of stem cell biology. The institute is core funded by the Wellcome and the Medical Research Council, spans three University Schools (Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine and Physical Sciences) and heads an Interdisciplinary Research Centre involving two additional Schools (Schools of Technology and Humanities and Social Sciences).

The Department of Haematology is an internationally renowned biomedical research Department with a particular focus on blood cell formation, blood cancers and thrombosis. It also provides education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and contributes to clinical activities in haematology. Approximately 60% of haematology research groups are part of CSCI.

Later this year the whole of the CSCI (30 research groups currently based in six different buildings) will relocate to the new Capella building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This is a new and exciting opportunity for a Business and Operations Manager who will lead a new administrative structure supporting the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and the Department of Haematology. This is a pivotal strategic post which will influence and drive forward the strategic direction of the new joint administrative structure. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in optimising business operations, support fundraising and grant applications. They will provide overall direction for Institute facilities and play a key role in the Capella building management. They will work alongside the Director to develop complex relationships within and external to the University to ensure CSCI provides leadership to national and international stem cell research communities and is an authoritative voice to Government and the public on ethical and policy issues.
