The Institute is a world-leading centre for stem cell research with a mission to transform human health through a deep understanding of stem and progenitor cell biology ( and is supported by the Wellcome and the Medical Research Council.

The Karadottir lab aims to understand how neurons regulate oligodendrocyte progenitor cell differentiation throughout life in both health and disease; and the effect myelin has on neuronal circuits. The lab uses a combination of diverse approaches, including molecular, genetic, cellular, imaging, physiological and behavioural methods in order to achieve a detailed understanding of myelin plasticity.

We are looking for Research Associates with a proactive and flexible attitude to work (when required), who are collaborative with communication skills, enjoy working in a team, and are interested in the Karadottir lab. to join a European Research Council (ERC) funded research project to uncover to what extent myelin plasticity occurs and the mechanisms underlying it.

Experience in electrophysiology and/or optogenetics or imaging, or behavioural tests and some experience in cell culture and molecular biology is desirable.
