Discover Stem Cells

Discover Stem Cells Lessons

Researchers from the Institute took part in the piloting of a Discover Stem Cells lesson at two schools in Cambridge - The Leys School and St Mary's School, in June and July 2011. The activity was developed by Emma Kemp and Ian Chambers from Edinburgh University as part of the EuroSyStem Project.

Discover stem cells is an easy-to-use lesson packed with games and group activities to engage young students with fundamental ideas in stem cell science. A PowerPoint presentation provides the core structure for the session, but it is broken up into small modules with regular opportunities for students to explore concepts for themselves.

This activity has been so successful that a follow-up lesson has now been developed. For more information on both lessons and how to run them at your own institution, please visit the EuroStemCell website
