Real Time PCR

DNA amplification

The Institute has several quantitative PCR (a.k.a. real-time PCR) instruments available for general booking through the PPMS system. Standard 96-well plates using either TaqMan or SYBR Green chemistry can be run on any of the three StepOne Plus machines.

For larger-scale projects, the QuantStudio 12K Flex Real-Time PCR System offers maximum throughput, flexibility and scalability. Two interchangeable blocks are available for this machine: one for standard 384-well plates (TaqMan or SYBR), and the other for OpenArray: a nanolitre fluidics platform for low volume, solution-phase reactions. OpenArray plates are microscope slide-sized and are arranged in 48 subarrays of 64 through holes, with a total of 3072 through-holes for individual 33nl reactions. This machine can simultaneously run up to four 3072 reaction QuantStudio 12K Flex OpenArray Plates in around 4 hours.
