Chiara Herzog

Dr. Chiara Herzog is a Group Leader and Assistant Research Professor at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, University of Cambridge. With over 10 years of experience in interdisciplinary research spanning computational and experimental biology, she has pioneered novel insights into how our epigenome records past exposures, present cellular state, and future disease risk. Her current work focuses on studying the potential of epigenetics for biomarkers and therapeutics in the context of ageing and immunity, supported by a Wellcome Trust Career Development Award. Chiara also leads the epiPRIME project within the UK Advanced Research + Invention Agency's (ARIA) Sustained Viral Resilience programme. Aside from her own research, Chiara contributes to standardisation and advancing ageing biomarkers to the clinic through her role on the executive committee of the Biomarkers of Aging Consortium.

Chiara previously received funding through the prestigious King’s Prize Fellowship (King’s College London; Research Fellow in Department of Twin Research, Ageing, and Genetic Epidemiology) and held positions at the University of Innsbruck (European Translational Oncology Prevention & Screening Institute, Institute for Biomedical Ageing Research), University College London (Institute for Women’s and Children’s Health), and University of Edinburgh (Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences). She is currently a DFG Mercator Fellow in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich.
