Stem Cell Awareness Day 2014

Wednesday 8 October 2014 marks Stem Cell Awareness Day this year. Co-ordinated by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, it's "a unique global opportunity to foster greater understanding about stem cell research and the range of potential applications for disease and injury, which brings together organizations and individuals around the world working to ensure that we realize the benefits of one of the most promising fields of science in our time".

Events on the day include:

Cell Stem Cell Journal
In the spirit of Stem Cell Awareness Day to stimulate further discussion the editors of Cell Stem Cell posted a collection of free articles covering ethical, legal, and social implications of stem cell research on the journals home page. The 19 articles cover topics ranging from paying for egg donors and donation of embryos for research, to political controversies and regulation of therapies.

International Society for Stem Cell Research
