Biography

John is a clinician-scientist in Gastroenterology & Hepatology. He earned his medical degree and masters of science with distinction from the University of London, and his PhD from the University of Cambridge. He was previously the recipient of several competitive fellowships (NIHR, W D Armstrong Trust, etc) and awards (RCP Dame Sheila Sherlock, NIHR STEM early career award, EASL etc). His research aims to develop biomaterials that recapitulate the liver niche in health and disease, and improve cell/tissue delivery into models of liver failure.

Research

John has research interests in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and clinical interests in liver failure, medical education, and ERCP. He currently serves as an editor for the BSG Open Gastroenterology journal, the BSG Web Education Platform, and sits on the board of advisors for the Clinician Engineer Hub.
