All applicants to the University of Cambridge are given the opportunity to apply for various Cambridge funding schemes, within the main application form. See details of these here. You can use the Cambridge Funding Search page to find out which type of funding you might be eligible for, and how / when to apply. 

Some of these main schemes, are listed below.

 

Cambridge Trust logo

Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust (Cambridge Trust)

All Cambridge Trust scholarships are available only for study at the University of Cambridge, and require that you apply to the University via the normal online application form, and in most cases, require that you apply by the relevant deadline.

Procedures for applying for postgraduate study (Masters, PhD and similar).

Deadlines for Postgraduate Study

If you are applying for postgraduate study, please check and apply by the specific course deadline. There will be two general course deadlines in December and January (see individual course to know which date to adhere to). 

Please apply by the relevant deadline set for entry to your particular course and complete the 'Funding' section in the online Applicant Portal in order to be considered for funding.

There will be no differential of deadlines for application between UK or EU or International postgraduate applicants.


 

Gates Cambridge

For intellectually outstanding postgraduate students with a capacity for leadership and a commitment to improving the lives of others.

Eligibility - Gates Cambridge considers applications from citizens from outside the United Kingdom who wish to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge. See our eligibility page for details

Deadlines - There are two Gates Cambridge application deadlines; one for US citizens normally resident in the USA, and a later round for all other applicants. Deadlines can be found here.

Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds awards PhD fellowships to outstanding junior scientists (max. age: 27 years) who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately 3 years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory.

Eligibility - For further details please refer to “Who can apply?”.

Deadlines - 1 February, 1 June, 1 October of each year. Pre-selection takes place about 4 weeks after the respective deadline, and the final selection approximately 5 months after the respective deadline. 

The peer-review-based selection process is highly competitive. Applicants should therefore be outstanding in all three selection criteria
