Photos from 2023 Retreat

Last week, the Institute held the CSCI Annual Retreat on 5 and 6 June in Cambridge.

This event brings together CSCI researchers and Affiliate Group Leaders to share emerging findings, forge collaborations and socialise outside of the office and labs. This year also featured, in addition to the scientific sessions, a special afternoon session that invited our SCI-TIF members and other industry contacts to share their work with the Institute as well.

Throughout the two-day event, CSCI welcomed over 350 attendees that included CSCI’s own Group Leaders, Postdoctoral researchers and Postgraduate students; Affiliate Group Leaders and their labs; and visitors from over 30 companies during the Industry Session. The event also featured the keynote address by Dr Kate McDole, Group Leader at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC-LMB), presenting her talk ‘How the embryo gets its shape: Understanding early mouse development with light-sheet microscopy’.

Monday evening featured a PhD & Postdoc poster session for researchers to present their work, followed by a social to celebrate the hard work throughout the year, complete with food trucks and live music.

On the second day, an awards ceremony honoured Research Culture & Integrity and Public Engagement efforts at the Institute throughout the past year, as well as postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate students from CSCI and Affiliate groups who were awarded for poster and oral presentations throughout the retreat. This year’s winners were:
